Other equivalent blank stock numbers include:
- Curtis# KA18
- Ilco-EZ# KW14 (also Silca's number)
- Jet# KA29-NP
- JMA# KAW-2I (that's letter I, not number 1)
- Lotus# KW28
- Orion# KA4
[Make
sure you reference the key company name with the given number; Curtis
KA-4 is very different from Orion's KA-4; btw: Home Depot & Lowes,
with their "Axxess" key blank & cutting system, do NOT have a
compatible blank.]
Also according to my
Ilco key blank catalog, other cycle companies that use that blank
include: Cagiva, Kawasaki, MV, Polaris (obviously, right?), Suzuki, and
Triumph. In theory if you know any dealers for these makes, you MIGHT be
able to get a copy made by them also (though it may cost a limb or
two).
Perhaps a little on the technical side:
I noticed that Kawasaki has 2 different code series for B8001-9000. The
European version uses the Ilco X259 key blank (but with different
specifications for cutting), but the US version uses an Ilco KW15-BP, a
little bit thinner in places, but uses the exact same specifications as
the X259 when cut for a Victory (simply has an extra seventh cut on the
end). If you can bring your Victory key to church next Synday, I can
bring a sample blank (and maybe some calipers) and we can see if the
KW15-BP might be a viable substitution. Cool?...
